CYCLING

Cyclists are particularly welcome at Rigg Cottage B&B Maybole. For those following Sustrans National Cycle Route 7 Maybole (Inverness to Carlisle/ Lochs and Glens) Rigg Cottage Bed and Breakfast provides the perfect overnight stop. Lying roughly halfway between Glasgow and Newton Stewart, this country cottage nr Maybole (4mls) is just a few minutes cycling from the crossroads marked "Cloyntie" on the outskirts of Crosshill.

Cyclists' particular needs are well catered for, with secure storage for the all-important bikes, drying facilities, and laundry (small charge) if required. Especially for cyclists, a home cooked evening meal is offered (please discuss at time of booking). Also by prior arrangement, a packed lunch can be supplied.

If you prefer not to follow the National Cycle Network Routes, and want to plan your own cycling holiday, Maybole is perfect for accessing the numerous scenic by-ways that are available, taking in some of our major attractions as you go (eg. Culzean Castle and Burns' Cottage).

WALKING

Walkers will enjoy a visit to the nearby village of Straiton, voted one Scotland's Top Ten picturesque villages. From the little car park, you can follow some lovely walks to suit all ages and abilities, and on your return to base there's always hot soup and home baking at The Buck or, later in the day, good food or a drink at The Black Bull.

There are limitless walking opportunities nearby, including a section of The Ayrshire Coastal Path, Galloway Forest Park and Dailly Village Trails not to mention the huge variety of beach-walks, paths and trails within the grounds of Culzean Castle, Maybole.
